Olive oil benefits

Health olive oil benefits keep surprising us. Some scientists already understood it as they compared amazed longevity between countries. In fact, people in the Mediterranean region live longer than in France, Great Britain or Germany. Countries like Italy, Spain or Greece get well over 85 years when the other neighbors can hardly reach 80.

In numerous studies, this phenomenon is attributed to our famous Mediterranean diet. It is believed that it is the amount of foods like EVOO, legumes, fruits and a lower consumption of animal fats that make us more "durable".

In particular, we suffer less cases of cancer and cholesterol than our Central European neighbors, let alone Americans, Canadians or Australians.

Olive oil benefits: cholesterol

Remember that cardiovascular diseases remains the leading cause of death in industrialized countries.

Olive oil benefits: cancer

More than a decade ago, Dr. Beauchamp happens to discover a strange polyphenol in olive oil, Oleocanthal. This molecule has Ibuprofen-like properties, and it has been shown in the laboratory that it can literally kill cancer cells. Other polyphenols such as hydroxytyrosol with similar capacities appeared later.

Olive oil for frying?
