Cortijo de Suerte Alta EVOO
Of the oldest olives on the estate. Trees planted in a traditional way with three endemic varieties of Baena: Picual, Picudo and Hojiblanca. It is a complex EVOO, of the three varieties that mix naturally in the field.
Cortijo de Suerte Alta flavor notes
Sweet entry thanks to the palm weevil, reminiscent of fruits such as apples. The Picual brings us bitter for its high level of natural antioxidants. and the Hojiblanco gives it a spicy touch of pepper in the mouth and throat.
The mill
Family property, on the banks of the Guadajoz river in the municipality of Baena (Córdoba). In 1924 the Marquises of Bedmar transformed the farm into an olive grove, previously used as pasture and cereal. The current owner is Manuel Heredia Halcón, Marqués de Prado. The traditional olive trees of the Baena area, weevils, hojiblancos and picuals, to promote pollination.
In 1996 the reconversion to Ecological Cultivation (C.A.A.E.) began and the works of transformation in irrigation of the olive grove began. During 2006 the new oil mill was built, to close the production cycle, from the tree to the bottle.
It is a modern bioclimatic building, minimizes energy consumption and guarantees the conservation and stability of the oil in the winery. Vegetable screens, photovoltaic energy panels, and the air chamber system keep the interior at a stable temperature, around 23ºC, without any energy consumption. Likewise, for the air conditioning and hot water for the mill, the bone extracted from the olive itself is used as fuel.
In summary, with the energy of the solar panels and the olive bone, the energy balance is achieved in the process, without any added fuel expense.
