Fuenquesada was born with the vocation of producing and marketing an Extra Virgin olive oil, exclusively of the Picual variety. It is indeed very early harvested olives and premium gourmet quality.
In 2020, our first year of existence, we entered prestigious international competitions, achieving a remarkable rating.
Finca Las Fuentezuelas Jaén (Andalusia), of the 100% Picual variety, of High-end Extra Virgin quality. To harvest them, we use mechanical harvesting systems and oil extraction after 4 hours maximum. The oil is stored and bottled inert after filtering, keeping a controlled temperature of between 16ºC and 20ºC.
Its color is intense green presenting a medium-high fruity, with a slight bitterness and a medium spicy, elegant and balanced. In this way, it is an EVOO with clearly green nuances, where green wood is its main descriptor.
The direct aromas remind us of the olive leaves with nuances of green apple, tomato and banana peel. In the mouth it enters sweet, giving way to a very pleasant astringency and spiciness, with retro-nasal notes of pepper.
The olive grove
The farm is located in a place rich in water, has springs and streams. In it, centenary Picual olive trees live, and the collection is early and nocturnal, only from the glasses.
Its main attraction lies in the wide market lined with pilasters that form a large pergola. In fact, until well into the nineteenth century, the garden predominated, being this little by little replaced by the olive grove.
Since 1900 the farm belongs to the family, and to this day the cultivation is exclusively olive grove of Picual olives. In this way, all of it goes to the production of Fuenquesada, authentic extra virgin olive oil from Jaén.
We are not big oil producers, we are big oil producers
