Organic olive oil
Organic oil is one that comes from organic olive growing, and aims to produce EVOO without using chemical products.
These prohibited products are fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides, thus helping to protect natural resources and biodiversity.
Organic extra virgin olive oil is the one that comes from Organic/Biologically grown olives.
Thanks to an EU program, cultivation is possible without the use of fertilizers, chemical pesticides, additives or preservatives. All this under the control of an official body.
This type of oil must undergo an exhaustive control and certification process. Only in this way is it allowed to indicate its status as “ecological, ‘bio’ or organic” on the packaging.
In addition, a stamp with the EU logo and the numerical code of the control entity will be added.
And the taste?
Its flavor is very peculiar but it is very difficult to differentiate it from an extra virgin olive oil. However, it is an authentic gourmet delight for the most demanding palates.
Organic oil is highly regulated, so it must have a lower amount of chemical residues than its conventional equivalent.
Its price is usually significantly higher than any traditional oil, since production techniques are more expensive and less efficient.
Organic extra virgin olive oil
The only difference we find between organic olive oil and Extra Virgin is that organic olive oil is made 100% with organic olives.
This means that the olive is organically farmed, which means that no pesticides are used on the crops or in the production of said oil.
