Cáceres, and Extremadura in general, have traditionally been one of the main production areas in Spain for table olives, which have often been sold in bulk to companies in other areas. However, local producers have begun to realize that they have a unique olive, the Manzanilla Cacereña Olive.
This black and juicy olive is already forging an international reputation, and from which are extracted some magnificent olive oils, with two DO (Denominations of Origin) in Extremadura, Gata-Hurdes and Monterrubio. They are oils very different from those produced in Jaén, Córdoba or Toledo.
