Olive oil exports to Germany
In the first half of this year, Spain exported more than 13,000 tons of olive oil to Germany, representing an increase of 32% compared to the same period last year. In addition, Spain supplies 30% of all olive oils sold in Germany, compared to only 14% a decade ago.
During this presentation, the Interprofessional manager reviewed the work accomplished in recent months, with impactful campaigns such as those carried out on the Berlin subway and tram, a solid and consistent digital presence on major social and recipe platforms, a strong investment in programming, campaigns on various television channels, and a permanent PR plan.
Above all, he focused on the progress this food product is making in a market that is already the leading olive oil market in Europe among non-producing countries. Olive oil consumption continues to grow in Germany.
Promotions
On this presentation day, blogger and TV chef Felicitas Then hosted a cooking show in which she demonstrated to the media in attendance the versatility of this food in the kitchen and the secrets of its use.
Expert taster Carmen Sánchez, for her part, guided the journalists and influencers through the diverse aromas and flavors of the numerous varieties of extra virgin olive oil that Germans can purchase in their country.
Finally, the promotional program for the next 12 months was also advanced. Therefore, in this second year of activation in Germany, Olive Oil World Tour will implement a strategy that includes participation in gastronomic fairs such as Food&Life and activations at points of sale in Munich, spectacular campaigns outside Berlin, a digital campaign, and also a comprehensive content plan on social networks, where we will collaborate with influencers.
Sustainability was particularly highlighted as one of the campaign’s axes, something fundamental in a market where organic extra virgin olive oil is gaining increasing importance.
