Olive oil from Malaga, especially that protected by the Antequera D.O.P., is characterized by its quality and diversity of nuances. Olive varieties such as Hojiblanca predominate, producing fruity oils of medium to high intensity. Other important varieties include Verdial de Vélez-Málaga, which provides smoothness and ripe fruity notes without bitterness or spiciness, and Manzanilla Aloreña, which is also present.
There are many major brands and cooperatives producing olive oil in Malaga, including Finca La Torre, renowned for its organic and biodynamic oils from varieties such as Hojiblanca and Arbequina. LA ORGANIC, although based in Ronda (Málaga), is known for its premium organic oils.
