Extra virgin olive oil Oro del Desierto Coupage
particular selection made by our mill Master, from olives harvested at the end of October and the beginning of November.
These come from the varieties Arbequina, Hojiblanca and Picual. The key to success in achieving maximum quality is to take maximum care of all the steps of the process, there are no shortcuts.
Oro del Desierto Coupage Oil, 100% EVOO
Our olive grove has the luck and privilege of being virtually in the desert. It is the driest area of Spain, which helps us a lot to control pests. For example, we almost do not have Olive Fly.
With so much dryness it does not favor its reproduction and prefers to go to more humid olive groves. This brings another benefit and that is that we do not need to use chemical compounds to fight against these pests. Therefore we reduce costs and do not alter the original taste of the oil.
Our customers know this and take them into account when they shop olive oil Oro del Desierto Coupage.
The key is in the control of water
As we have hardly any rains, we use drip irrigation. This allows us to control with extreme precision the water that “drinks” each olive tree throughout the year, opening and closing the “tap” as we need.
In addition, this system is a patent of ours and consists of placing a tube 50cm deep in depth so that moisture reaches the root system of the plant, limiting evaporation at the same time. Consequently achieving reductions in water consumption up to 30%.
This patent has received the 2004 Eco-olive Prize for research, the 2003 Entrepreneurial Development Council Award. Also the IX Accésit of the Andrés Núñez de Prado Prize for Research 2007.
Being independent of the weather factor is a huge advantage for us, unlike to what happens practically in all the mills, and in general in any crop of fruits and vegetables.
