Desert Gold Origin

At Oro del Desierto, we are constantly driven by innovation and the pursuit of excellent products. We have embarked on an exciting new project: the recovery of a unique native variety from the province of Almería, known as Picual from AlmeríaThis variety owes its name to the visual similarity with the original Picual, although it presents significant differences in agronomic terms and in the oil it produces.

We have chosen the name Origin for this Limited Edition, since this This variety is one of the most ancient and rare from our region. The tree is vigorous and very productive, although it has a late ripening period. Its veraison occurs with 70% of the fruit green in the first weeks of December, making it one of the latest varieties in our area.

The olive Picual from Almería Its distribution is extremely limited, and it is only found in certain areas of our province, being the Tabernas desert one of those places. The farm where it comes from is located about 850 meters altitude in a small mountainous areaThe olives are harvested and taken to our olive mill to be processed on the same dayensuring maximum freshness.

Due to its limited production, this oil is sold exclusively in 500 ml bottles.

With this project, we contribute to the revaluation of a almost extinct variety and, along with the Lechín varietyWe maintain our commitment to preserving ancestral varieties that have fallen into disuse compared to the more common ones in the national context.
