Olive Oil L’Alquería
L’Alquería, EVOO derived exclusively from early-harvested Alfafarenca olives (second half of October), at the onset of ripening, in the heart of the Sierra de Mariola Natural Park (Alicante).
This variety refers to the Alicante village of Alfafara, where the century-old olive trees are located. It is protected by the DOP Aceites de la Comunitat Valenciana.
This native variety is valued for its agronomic rusticity and the high quality of the extracted extra virgin oil. Additionally, its high antioxidant content makes it a very stable oil.
Due to its resistance to the cold winters and hot summers of the region, the Alfafarenca variety has always been predominant in the Sierra de Mariola. The terrain is characterized by small terraces of limestone soils, near the Mediterranean Sea at about 750 meters above sea level. This privileged enclave makes this olive juice unique in the world.
On the nose, it is intense, with sweet aromas of banana and green notes of tomato, persistent and harmonious. The green tones stand out over the fruity ones. On the palate, it is dense, with great personality, balanced between spiciness and bitterness, with a retro-nasal flavor of green banana peel, tomato plant, and green almond shell.
L’Alquería Blanqueta
Limited production, exclusively from Blanqueta olives harvested at the onset of ripening in the Comtat region, Alicante. Its name refers to its whitish color during ripening.
Protected by the DOP Aceites de la Comunitat Valenciana, it is native to Muro de Alcoy, the town where our mill is located. It presents a high content of Vitamin E, Polyphenols, and Linoleic Acid.
On the nose, it has high intensity, with aromas of freshly cut grass and fig tree, persistent and harmonious. On the palate, it leaves a fresh sensation, with almost no bitterness and slightly more pronounced spiciness. A very persistent, long-lasting, and pleasant vegetal sensation in the mouth.
Picual
Limited production, it is the most widely grown variety in the world and also in Spain, as in Jaén, where 95% of olive plantations are Picual.
Our plantation is near the Mediterranean Sea, below 300 meters above sea level. Therefore, our Picual oils are sweeter and fresher compared to the more bitter ones found inland.
The Picual extra virgin oil from L’Alquería contains fatty acids and natural antioxidants. This makes it a highly resistant and stable variety, excellent for daily use in cooking due to its good thermal behavior.
On the nose, it has green aromas of fig tree, fresh wood, tomato, with touches of almond, banana, and apple. It has a slight finish of green almond with low astringency. On the palate, it is a medium-intense and green fruity oil with some ripe notes, sweet entry, with positive and balanced notes.
The Mill
EVOO in the heart of the Sierra de Mariola Natural Park (Alicante). A family-owned company dedicated to extra virgin olive oil, just a few kilometers from the Mediterranean Sea.
We take care of the entire process, from the tree to bottling, thus ensuring the highest quality. Therefore, we harvest the olives at their optimal ripeness and quickly cold-extract the oil.
We then store the oil in stainless steel tanks inertized with nitrogen. All this is combined with the native Blanqueta and Alfafarenca varieties from our ancient olive trees.
Quality Begins in the Field
Knowing the trees and providing them with the necessary supplements is essential, following environmentally friendly methods. We do not leave the decision of when to start harvesting to chance, which is key to obtaining intense and balanced aromas and flavors.
Taking care of the entire process and cold-extracting the olives allows us to maintain intact the precious polyphenols that only high-quality EVOO contains. Indeed, a few years ago, the opposite was done, extracting the oil with heat to obtain the maximum oleic content per olive. The problem with this process is that the heat destroys these highly volatile components, turning it into a simple vegetable fat.
Depending on the month of the year, the color of the oil you receive may differ from the photo. However, we remind you that the color of an oil has no relation to its aroma and flavor.
