Description

Cortijo de Suerte Alta Olive Oil

Cortijo de Suerte Alta, EVOO from the oldest olive trees on the estate. Trees planted traditionally with three endemic varieties from Baena: Picual, Picudo, and Hojiblanca.

This is a complex EVOO, from the three varieties that naturally mix in the field. Sweet entry thanks to the Picudo, reminiscent of fruits like apple.

The Picual brings bitterness due to its high level of natural antioxidants. Meanwhile, the Hojiblanca adds a spicy peppery touch in the mouth and throat.

The Olive Mill

Family-owned, on the bank of the Guadajoz River in the municipality of Baena (Córdoba). Thus, in 1924, the Marquises of Bedmar transformed the estate into an olive grove, previously destined for pasture and cereals. The current owner is Manuel Heredia Halcón, Marquis of Prado.

The traditional olive varieties of the Baena area, Picudo, Hojiblanca, and Picual, are used to favor pollination and control alternation.

In 1996, the conversion to Organic Cultivation (C.A.A.E.) began, and the work to convert the olive grove to irrigation started.

In 2006, the new olive mill was built to close the production cycle, from the tree to the bottle. It is a modern bioclimatic building, minimizing energy consumption and ensuring the conservation and stability of the oil in the cellar.

The plant screens, photovoltaic energy panels, and the air chamber system maintain the interior at a stable temperature of around 23ºC without any energy consumption.

Similarly, for air conditioning and hot water for the mill, the extracted olive pit itself is used as fuel.

In summary, with the energy from solar panels and the olive pit, energy balance is achieved in the process with no additional fuel costs.
