Organic olive oil is made from olives grown without the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides, a process certified by specialized agencies. The Extra Virgin designation is independent of organic cultivation, as it only depends on the oil’s acidity not exceeding 0.8%. Although it is considered a healthier option because it does not contain chemical residues, its flavor is not necessarily superior to that of conventional oil. Organic oil is generally 25% more expensive due to its lower productivity and the market value it places on it.
